Golden Gate Land Trust Helps BCIFR
The Big Corkscrew Island Fire Control and Rescue District recently took delivery of a BullEx Fire Extinguisher Training System. Funding for this training system was provided by the Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee.
The training uses smart technology to sense where the trainee aims and sweeps the compressed air/water extinguishers and automatically varies the flames in response.
This allows students to “fight” live fire in a safe and controlled manner while learning the basics of how to properly use a fire extinguisher.
With this technology, it gives the student immediate feedback when the skill is done properly – the fire goes out. When the skill is done improperly – the fire continues to burn.
This system allows the fire district to offer this training with no harmful chemicals being discharged into the environment.
At the January 25th meeting of the Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee, members got to experience the trainer first hand as Inspector Andy Marfongella explained how the system worked and allowed members to try it out. Pictured with the system are Committee Members Karen Acquard, Pat Humphries, David Farmer, Jeffrey Curl and Collier County Committee Liaison Jason Bires.
